What is Salvation?

When referring to Biblical Salvation, there is an ultimate question: “Have you been saved?….” and this question refers to the condition of your heart and your spiritual well being. The question is, “Have you received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?’’. This has been called the most important decision that anyone can make for their life. How does one receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

It’s as simple as A…B…C…

1. Admit that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior. Romans 3:10 “there is no one righteous, no not one”. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.’’ No one is perfect and we are all sinners.

2. Believe Act 16:31 “so they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, – you and your household.”

3. Confess Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Confession is with your mouth believing is with your heart.

Once again, the ultimate question is… Have you received JESUS as your Lord and Savior? The word, “Lord”, refers to JESUS becoming your Master, and the word, “Savior”, refers to JESUS saving us from our sins, from eternal death, and from hell. This is the reason JESUS died on the cross. JESUS was our ultimate sinless sacrifice on the cross for our sins. No one can work their way into heaven. Titus 3:5 states, “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,”. Consequently, we are saved by Grace. Grace means that salvation is a free gift from God and you cannot work for it.

One other word that is necessary for salvation is the word repentance. A simple definition for repentance is a 180 degree turn of direction. It means that now there is a change in your heart and your life from following your way to following God’s way in everything and in every area. So the question comes, “Are you willing to repent and to say to God, “I’ll do things Your way!” ? You can make this decision today.

Here is a simple prayer for salvation…

Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner and I repent from my sins to follow You. I believe that You lived a sinless life, You died for my sins, You rose again from the dead. I receive You into my heart as my Lord and King. Thank You Jesus for saving me. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Congratulations for the greatest decision you can make in your life!

Your next step…. Every new believer needs a pastor and a church family so you can grow with the family of God. Ask the Lord to show you who is your pastor and the church you should attend. The Lord will answer that prayer.
